Time

As nurses, we have a professional responsibility to stand up to the racism and racial inequities woven throughout our society. The ANA-Illinois Board acknowledges that nurses must be agents for positive change that promotes a dignified quality of life for everyone. This is our purpose and calling.

ANA-Illinois is hosting a listening session on issues related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. We are calling together individual nurses, nursing organizations, other stakeholders to provide the chance to learn about gaps and opportunities in the nursing community related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Our goal is to hear stories, experiences, and insights from participants to inform meaningful next steps and action-oriented solutions related to diversity, equity, and inclusion within all aspects of health care, including the work environment, educational programs, academia and to improve access to care.

The information gathered during the August 13th session will be shared with our newly appointed Expert Panel on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. This Expert Panel is charged with making recommendations to the Board on how ANA-Illinois can proactively address diversity, equity, and inclusion issues experienced by our patients and members of the nursing profession.

Our board goal is to shape our policy work in Springfield and to identify partners and allies interested in addressing the systemic inequities in health care.

We welcome all who want to be heard and all who wish to listen to this session.
