LPNs and LVNs Voted Eligible to Join the American Nurses Association
The American Nurses Association Membership Assembly approved a major bylaws update to expand ANA membership eligibility to include licensed practical nurses and licensed vocational nurses. LPNs and LVNs will receive full membership rights and benefits no later than July 2027.
ANA-Illinois is already working to revise our state bylaws so LPN membership becomes available in Illinois once ANA’s processes are in place.
This step strengthens nursing representation and supports a more inclusive professional community for nurses across practice settings.
