Every nurse carries a memory of our mistakes, whether an error, close call, or misstep. ANA-Illinois would like to host a session during Nurses Month to allow nurses to discuss the issue and share their concerns and fears. We all know that as nurses, our mistakes may have significant consequences; that is what keeps us up at night.

It has been more than 20 years since the Institute of Medicine released “To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System,” a report on preventable medical errors. Yet here we are in 2022 without the necessary nationwide system in place reporting adverse events from medical errors. Join us for this open discussion, and let’s support each other and strategize how we minimize our risks and work on perfecting an imperfect health care delivery system.

This will be the first of several sessions we will host on the topic during the year; stay tuned in for future sessions.

Speakers: Elizabeth Aquino, PhD, RN, ANA-Illinois President & Susan Y Swart EdD, MS, RN, CAE
