This will be a one-hour webinar on the risk management and regulatory implications of the potential or actual criminalization of a health professional’s conduct that resulted in the death of a patient. It will include information on the impact of standards of practice, regulatory compliance, and enterprise risk management principles on potential regulatory and criminal charges that could be brought in Illinois against a nurse whose medication error results in the death of a patient, as well as ways in which to avoid the potential for regulatory and criminal charges associated with a medication error that results in the death of a patient. Case studies will be used to illustrate the topic.
At the end of this offering, the participant will be able to:
- Explain the risk management process.
- Apply enterprise risk management principles to gaps in professional healthcare practice.
