The DEI committee strives to make necessary changes that will not only improve the quality of patient care and outcomes, but will save lives. We recognize that an antiracist approach is vital in today’s healthcare world. As Dr. Camara Phyllis Jones, a physician and scholar, so poignantly stated – ‘Racism is a system of structuring opportunity and assigning value based on the social interpretation of how one looks. That’s why we must address racism as a root cause of health inequities,’” Chair of the DEI Committee Amanda Hopkins, PhD, RN.
