We invite you to serve on one of two Illinois Nurses Foundation committees. Both roles offer leadership growth, resume strength, and statewide impact.

EDITORIAL COMMITTEE

Did you know Nursing Voice is your quarterly journal? It reaches nurses across Illinois. You influence its direction and help elevate nurse scholarship.

What you gain

  • You strengthen your writing and peer review skills.
  • You expand your professional network.
  • You build credentials for academic, leadership, and policy roles.

Who should apply

  • You hold an MS degree or higher.
  • You bring expertise in clinical care, administration, education, research, or policy.
  • You offer experience with peer review, organizational review, or evaluation.
  • Familiar with APA or willing to learn APA to help with article submissions.

Your role

  • You meet monthly by Zoom.
  • You review and edit articles.
  • You help shape each issue’s focus areas.
  • You recommend authors and topics.
  • You review short articles of 300 to 400 words and feature articles of 3000 to 4000 words.
  • Each issue includes one continuing professional development article.

FUND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

You guide the fundraising strategy for the Foundation. You connect real nurse needs to donor investment.

What you gain

  • You sharpen strategic planning and governance skills.
  • You gain board level experience with data driven decisions.
  • You build expertise in storytelling, evaluation, and accountability.

Your purpose

  • Set annual fundraising priorities.
  • Approve the case for support each year.
  • Build a pipeline of nurse stories.
  • Evaluate every campaign and report results to the board.
  • Ensure alignment with nurse workforce needs.

Your responsibilities

  • Hold one strategy session each fall.
  • Submit two nurse story leads each quarter.
  • Review donor messaging quarterly.
  • Review campaign results within 30 days.
  • Share one emerging nurse need at each meeting.

How success looks after one year

  • A focused case for support tied to current nurse needs.
  • At least 12 nurse stories ready for outreach.
  • Clear fundraising reports for the board.
  • Committee members who speak with confidence about Foundation impact.
