As Pride Month begins, we are proud to share a message from Sam Davis, Jr., Vice President of ANA-Illinois. At ANA-IL, we are committed to equity, inclusion and belonging. This pride month, join us in celebrating our fellow LGBTQ+ nurses and honor the diversity within nursing and advocate for healthcare environments that are respectful, supportive, and where nurses are empowered to thrive.

As we welcome the month of June, I am honored to extend heartfelt recognition and support to our LGBTQ+ members and the broader community in celebration of Pride Month on behalf of ANA-Illinois.

Pride Month is an opportunity to reflect on the resilience, courage, and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals within the nursing profession, in our communities, and across society. It is also a time to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to advancing equity, inclusion, and belonging for all nurses, patients, and communities we serve.

At ANA-Illinois, we recognize that diversity is a strength, and inclusivity is a responsibility. As Vice President, I am proud to stand alongside our LGBTQ+ colleagues and advocate for environments where everyone feels seen, valued, and safe. Whether at the bedside, in leadership, education, or policy, LGBTQ+ nurses bring critical insight, compassion, and excellence that enrich the profession and elevate patient care.

Let this month serve as both a celebration and a call to action, reminding us to challenge discrimination, promote allyship, and ensure that our professional spaces reflect the values of dignity, respect, and justice.

To our LGBTQ+ members: you are vital to the fabric of nursing, and ANA-Illinois is proud to uplift your voices, your work, and your truth not just this month but every day.

With pride and solidarity,

Sam Davis, MHA, RN, NEA-BC, CNOR
