ANA-Illinois is proud to introduce Claudia Choe, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, elected to serve as the ANA-Illinois Membership Assembly Representative for the next two years. Claudia brings firsthand clinical experience, a deep commitment to advocacy, and a strong connection to the frontline nursing workforce. Her service represents a powerful voice for Illinois nurses at the national level, ensuring the profession’s most urgent concerns are elevated where policy is shaped.

Meet Claudia Choe and Her New Role

“Hello ANA-Illinois, my name is Claudia Choe. I’m honored to serve as your ANA-Illinois Membership Assembly Representative for the next two years. As your representative, I serve as a voting delegate representing Illinois nurses on ANA bylaws, policy, and professional practice issues, ensuring member perspectives inform national decisions.” Claudia entered the profession in 2019 and has spent most of her career in inpatient critical care, an experience that grounds her advocacy in real, lived frontline perspective. More recently, she has expanded her role as a family nurse practitioner and nursing educator, giving her a uniquely well-rounded understanding of nursing practice, workforce challenges, and the next generation of nurses entering the field.

Why Leadership Matters in Nursing

Claudia believes this moment in healthcare calls for strong, visible, and engaged nurse leaders. “We are currently in a pivotal time in our healthcare where the voice of nurses is urgently needed in leadership. The pressures of short staffing, burnout, nurse faculty shortage and now integration of AI into our profession, are mounting. We have seen it time and time again, our healthcare system is sustained by nurses.” As the nursing workforce continues to navigate post-pandemic challenges, Claudia is committed to ensuring that the policies shaping nursing practice reflect the realities of those who deliver care every day. “As your ANA-Illinois representative, I hope to fulfill this vision by bringing the ideas, concerns, and feedback affecting Illinois nurses to the rooms where policy decisions are made at a state and national level.”

How She Plans to Keep Members Heard, Seen, and Engaged

For Claudia, member engagement begins with presence, visibility, and authentic connection. “Everything I care about in this profession is rooted from being surrounded by the nurses I had the privilege of working with. I hope to continue to echo the voices of Illinois nurses by continuing to do just that, to stand alongside the nurses on the frontlines, maintain consistent visibility and availability within ANA-Illinois to stay connected to the current workforce priorities, and create meaningful opportunities to listen and learn from Illinois nurses.” Her commitment ensures that member voices, not assumptions, drive her work at the ANA-Illinois Membership Assembly.

A Message to the Nursing Community

Claudia’s passion for nursing is grounded in the people who make the profession extraordinary. “To the greatest profession that sustains our healthcare, thank you for inspiring me every day and for trusting me with your vote the next two years.”
