Jameszetta is an inspiring nurse leader whose passion, vision, and advocacy are deeply rooted in transforming the future of nursing. With a clear voice and a bold commitment to strengthening the profession, Jameszetta brings energy, purpose, and unwavering dedication to her role with ANA-Illinois.
Leadership in One Word…
When asked to describe being a nurse leader in just one word, Jameszetta chose “Transformational.” For her, leadership goes beyond tasks and titles—it’s about creating meaningful change that influences patients, colleagues, communities, and the broader healthcare landscape. Transformational leadership is the catalyst that drives innovation, inspires action, and elevates the standard of care.
The Biggest Opportunity for Nurses Today
Jameszetta sees this moment in healthcare as a powerful opportunity for nurses to step boldly into positions of influence. “Take the seat at the table and allow the nurse voice to be heard! If it involves nursing, then nurses should be present and included to collaborate, negotiate and advocate.” Her message is clear: nurses must be active participants wherever decisions about healthcare, policy, and professional practice are being made. Their insight, grounded in real-world experience and patient-centered care, is essential to shaping a more equitable and effective health system.
Why Nurses Should Get Involved with ANA-Illinois
For Jameszetta, professional involvement isn’t optional, it’s essential. “ANA-Illinois is a nurse-led organization where you can meet and engage with like-minded nurses on the state and national level who desire advocacy, legislation, and change plus support nurses all over the globe using your professional expertise.” She believes deeply in the power of collective action and shared purpose. “ANA-Illinois is the state organization with many opportunities that connects the center of leadership, clinical innovation, and guides you through political strategy. If you desire change, ANA-Illinois will support the change, get involved!” Her encouragement to others is rooted in empowerment: “You must be the change that you want to see in the world. You can make a difference by joining ANA-Illinois.”
The Issue She’s Most Passionate About
Among the many challenges facing the profession, Jameszetta is particularly passionate about one critical priority: “Increasing nursing faculty to improve the nursing shortages for the nurse workforce.” She recognizes that workforce shortages begin long before nurses reach the bedside, they begin in the classroom. Increasing nursing faculty and educational resources is key to expanding nursing programs, reducing bottlenecks, and ensuring a strong, sustainable nursing pipeline for the future.
