Araceli Orozco, BSN, RN-BC, IL PEL-SN, NCSN 


Araceli Orozco has been a Registered Nurse since 2002. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Loyola University Chicago.  Her nursing experience includes Medical-Surgical, Ambulatory Care, Maternal-Child Nursing, Home Health, and School Nursing. She obtained the School Nursing Certificate from the Illinois State University (ISU) – Mennonite College of Nursing in 2020.  Araceli obtained the Nationally Certified School Nurse designation from the National Board for Certification of School Nurses (NBCSN) in 2021.
 

 

Araceli has practiced in the specialty of school nursing for the past 10 years and enjoys providing care for the “whole” child. She works as a District Nurse in her current school district in West Chicago, Illinois. Her priority is advocating for school nurses and students, in addition to her graduate studies in Nursing Leadership and Management at ISU.  

 

Araceli is a member of the Illinois Association of School Nurses (IASN), American Nurses Association (ANA)- Illinois and the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) Illinois. Araceli was a recipient of the DuPage Valley PEL Grant through the Illinois Association of School Nurses (IASN) in 2020, and received the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award from the ANA- Illinois in 2021.   

 

In her spare time, Araceli enjoys writing and recently wrote a short article, with her nursing colleague, called “A School Nursing View” nursing colleague. The article was published in The Nursing Voice, June 2023 edition, which is the official publication of the Illinois Nurses Foundation.  

 

Araceli is serving, for the first time, as the Mentorship Co-chair for the IASN Foundation since 2022. She is excited to learn how to make a change in school health and nursing policy and the importance of nurses on boards. Araceli is excited to learn along the January 2024 Class of Nurses Running for Elected Office (NREO) Training Academy.
