Karen M. Battaglia, DNP, RN, CEN, TCRN, TNS

Karen Battaglia is the Trauma Program Coordinator at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital in McHenry, Illinois. Karen has also served as an adjunct clinical instructor for George Williams college of Aurora University. Karen currently serves as Secretary for the Illinois Emergency Nurses Association State Council, and has represented the organization to advocate for legislation related to emergency nursing including violence prevention in healthcare, safe staffing, and healthcare equity at the state and federal levels. Karen also participated in the 2017 sunset and renewal of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act. Her most exciting achievement, so far, has been being the guest of Congresswoman Lauren Underwood at the 2020 State of the Union Address in support of the pre-existing health care conditions clause of the Affordable Care Act.  

Karen is a mother of three adult sons, and grandmother to five grandchildren. 

Karen achieved her ADN from William Rainey Harper College, BSN from Olivet Nazarene University, MSN with emphasis in nursing education and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Grand Canyon University.
