Anne Simmons, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, AMB-BC, CPN, CNE
Anne Simmons has been an RN for 10 years, a Family Nurse Practitioner for 3 years and is currently completing her Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Science in Nursing at DePaul University. She serves as the Assistant Director of the Master’s Entry into Nursing Practice Program and Clinical Assistant Professor at DePaul University. Anne is ANCC Board Certified in ambulatory care (AMB-BC) and is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE). She was recognized as one of Illinois Nursing Foundation’s 40 Under 40 Emerging Nurse Leaders in 2023 and an Illinois Board of Higher Education Nurse Educator Fellow for 2022-2023. She is a member of many professional organizations and has presented her research both nationally and internationally. As an educator, Anne focuses on interactive learning and collaborative mentorship to encourage development of professionalism and empathy as it relates to the field of nursing. As an advance practice nurse, Anne intends to focus her practice on trauma-informed care, post-traumatic stress disorder, Military cultural competence, mental health care across the lifespan and wholistic wellness. Her research is focused on removing barriers and stigma to mental health care, and military informed care for Veterans, Veteran caregivers and their family members.
