ANA-Illinois supports the recommendation that all healthcare providers receive the COVID-19 vaccine, to not only protect themselves but the patients they serve.” Dr. Elizabeth Aquino, Ph.D., RN, ANA-Illinois President, said. “Nurses and all healthcare professionals who are vaccinated serve as role models and help to shorten the duration of the pandemic. We also want to stress that while vaccines are readily available across Illinois, we recognize that the history of inequity within the healthcare system impacts trust. We must continue to support and address vaccine hesitancy and system barriers to achieving the highest vaccination rate among the public and health workforce. We are all in this together, and we must focus on conquering this virus. As nurses, we have an ethical responsibility to do what is best for our patients and our communities.”
