Lead a Movement of Service Across Illinois

The ANA-Illinois Board of Directors is seeking a member to serve as Chair of the Community Service Committee.

Established in 2024, the Community Service Committee has already achieved an important milestone by creating Illinois’ first statewide Volunteer Database designed to connect nurses who want to serve with community organizations seeking nurse volunteers. This innovative resource helps nurses give back with purpose while strengthening the health of communities across Illinois.

With this foundation in place, the committee is entering an exciting new phase. Our focus now shifts to planning and implementing two statewide community service events each year that highlight the impact of nurses, improve community health, and increase the visibility of the nursing profession.

We are looking for a collaborative leader who believes every voice matters and enjoys helping a team turn ideas into action.

Responsibilities include:

• Partner with the ANA-Illinois staff liaison to develop meeting agendas and annual goals.
• Facilitate monthly Zoom meetings in a manner that encourages participation, respectful discussion, and thoughtful decision-making.
• Foster an environment where every member feels heard, valued, and respected.
• Encourage diverse viewpoints and help the committee reach consensus.
• Keep projects moving forward by supporting accountability, communication, and follow-through.
• Work with committee members to successfully plan and implement two statewide community service initiatives each year.
• Support continued growth and promotion of the ANA-Illinois Volunteer Database.

The ideal candidate:

• Demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills.
• Enjoys building relationships and leading collaborative teams.
• Has a passion for community service and advancing the nursing profession.
• Values innovation, inclusion, and member engagement.
• Is committed to helping nurses connect with meaningful volunteer opportunities throughout Illinois.

Time Commitment:

• One monthly committee meeting via Zoom.
• Planning and communication between meetings as needed.
• Quarterly reports to the Board of Directors.
• Collaboration with the ANA-Illinois staff liaison to support committee activities.

If you are inspired to lead, build connections, and create meaningful opportunities for nurses to serve their communities, we encourage you to apply.

Together, we will strengthen communities, elevate the nursing profession, and create lasting opportunities for nurses across Illinois to make a difference.

Applications are now being accepted. Complete the Consent to Serve form to be considered for appointment by the ANA-Illinois Board of Directors.

Deadline for consents is August 21st at 5pm.
