ANA-Illinois is proud to present the webinar: Staffing Update – What you need to know.

Staffing continues to be a challenge for our profession. Get an update on the various proposals considered during the general assembly this year. We will review the current challenges faced in Illinois and how we begin to address this issue by empowering nurses to have a true voice in a committee that is responsible for developing, evaluating, and changing the staffing plan. Join us for an update and discussion of the current status of legislation in Illinois.

Susan Swart, EdD, MS, RN, CAE

Dr. Swart is the CEO/President of SYS Consulting Solutions and the Executive Director for ANA-Illinois. She is a registered nurse and has expertise in issues related to scope of practice, ethics, nursing regulation and public policy development.

Dr. Swart became involved in nursing regulation and public policy in 2006 and assisted in the rewrite of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act in 2007 and 2017. She has served in multiple state-appointed health care task forces and worked on numerous pieces of legislation important to health care and the nursing profession.

She is a sought-after speaker and is known for her coalition building skills, innovative leadership approaches, organizational partnerships and growth strategies to advance organizational missions.

She received her BSN from the University of St Francis and her MS in the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program from the University of IL @ Chicago in 2005. In 2018, she received her doctorate from Olivet Nazarene University with an emphasis on ethical leadership.

Dr. Swart has served as advisor and preceptor for many graduate and doctoral students throughout the state. It is her life’s mission to foster nurse empowerment so that nurses continue to be leaders in making health care more effective, patient-centered and cost efficient.
